In 2001, a single-volume abridgement of the full set of letters was published by John Murray (ISBN 0719562066). The abridgement was made by Roger Hudson, who added many extra footnotes, almost all of which are accurate. A paperback version of this edition was released by Murray in 2003 (ISBN 0719562104).
