Udall, Nicholas (1504–1556). Schoolmaster and writer. Head Master of Eton, 1534–1541, when, accused of theft of the college silver, he denied it, but admitted buggery with one of his pupils. Later headmaster of Westminster School. Wrote the early English comedy Ralph Roister Doister. |

Urquhart, Francis Fortescue ('Sligger') (1868–1934). Don at Balliol, Oxford for nearly forty years, as Junior Dean (1896–1907), Bursar (1907–1919), and Dean (1918–1934). The DNB says of him, 'He liked handsome young men, and photographing them, but was probably celibate.' |
